The Ultimate Buyer's Guide to Shoe Laces
WHY DOES A LEATHER GOODS COMPANY SELL LACES?
Can I let you in on a little secret? Do you want to know the best way to enhance the look of your footwear without needing to buy multiple pairs and colors of footwear? SHOE LACES! There is no better or cost effective method to change up the entire vibe of a pair of boots or shoes than with a new pair of laces. I originally started Guarded Goods solely as a leather goods company but expanded to shoe laces in 2015 because of the number of requests I had for quality leather laces. In 2016 I continued that expansion to Waxed Cotton Laces and from there it spiraled out of control to where I now have over 100+ options of length, color and style.
HOW TO STYLE YOUR LACES
There are many ways that you can mix and match shoe laces and footwear to achieve different results. If you want to go for subtlety and want the footwear to be the key focus then finding a color that matches closely to the upper leather of your boot or shoe will allow your footwear to do the talking and not the laces. Matching the upper to the color of the lace will generally make the footwear look more dressy or formal.
Alternately you try to match the color and aesthetic of the laces with other elements of the footwear like matching the color of the welt. If you have a dark brown boot and a light colored welt, a pair of Whiskey Waxed Cotton or Natural Leather Laces can really make your footwear shine!
If you really want to go for a pop, then go all in on a vibrant, loud color like Rust, Orange, Whiskey, Sapphire or Olive.
At the end of the day you need to feel comfortable in what you're wearing so mix and match and try different things out to get the effect that you're going for.
