Lace Care
Getting the most from your laces
Laces are a wear part. They take friction every time you tie your boots. Treated well, a good pair lasts a long time. Here is what helps.
Leather laces
Let them dry on their own if they get wet, and skip direct heat. A little leather conditioner now and then keeps them supple. Keep an eye on sharp eyelets and speed hooks, since those are usually what cuts a lace.
Waxed cotton laces
The wax wears down with use. That is normal. You can work in a little fresh wax to bring back the finish and the grip.
When a lace wears out
Re-lace before a worn lace frays through or snaps on you. If a leather lace from me breaks, I will replace it. No photos needed. Just email me.
